By nature, many of us writers are introverts. So the prospect of talking to strangers for hours, combined with trying to convince them to spend money on your work can be terrifying. In this workshop, learn from a fantastic table-top salesperson who has identified ways to draw readers into your booth or table, start natural conversations, and close sales. A perfect class to take if you plan to apply for a spot at the next Writing Heights Book Fair!

Terri Lewis fell in love with history in high school. Not the dates or wars, but the mysterious daily lives of the people. Two sentences in a book bought at Windsor Castle led her to write her debut novel, Behold the Bird in Flight, A Novel of an Abducted Queen, published in June 2025 by She Writes Press, distribution by Simon and Schuster. Her second book won the 2025 Miami University Press Novella Prize; When They Came Home comes out in May 2026. She has published in Denver Quarterly and Chicago Quarterly Review among others and was accepted to the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and advanced workshops with Laura van den Berg and Rebecca Makkai. She reviews for The Washington Independent Review of Books.

Before she was an author, she had a career as a ballet dancer in Denver and Germany, ran a dance company in Arkansas, earned a B.A. in history and education and an M.A. in theater, not necessarily in that order. She lives with her husband and two lively dogs in Denver, Colorado.
